What Should We Bring?

There are a few items you should always consider bringing on a trip to the Maine coast to be prepared for changing weather conditions and other surprises. Here's a list of our recommendations:

• Insect shield clothing and/or clothing treated with permethrin (an insecticide), including shirts, trousers/slacks, socks, and hats.

• Sweaters for chilly evenings and mornings

• Polarized sunglasses for whale watching and other water-focused activities

• Layered clothing for chilly boat rides and other excursions

• Raingear for rainy days and wet boat rides

• Windbreaker coat for windy days and windy boat rides

• Hiking boots or sturdy shoes for walking the Salt River Cottage shoreline path and Bold Coast trails and welliingtons/galoshes to walk the intertidal zone

• Binoculars for wildlife-watching (we have a pair for your use in the Cottage, but they are not to be removed from the premises)

• A camera or camera-equipped smartphone for capturing stunning sunsets, wildlife, and memorable selfies!
