Overview

Salt River Cottage

This eco-friendly, Northern White Cedar log home sits on a wooded bluff overlooking the confluence of two of Maine's beautiful tidal rivers, home to bald eagles, osprey, moose and harbor seals. Surrounded by a secluded forest amidst wild blueberry bushes and raspberry and blackberry brambles, Salt River Cottage is your perfect vacation getaway.

This newly renovated waterfront home boasts 180° water views; a dazzling night sky; updrafts for soaring eagles and osprey; a "Lapasuwok" exhibition of ancient rock art photography; and clean, traditional sleeping arrangements for up to 6 guests (with a sofa bed and camp cot, allowing expansion up to 9 guests).

The location is an ideal gateway to Maine's Bold Coast, offering seafood festivals, fishing holes, heritage sites (fun fact: one of the first naval battles of the American Revolution was fought nearby in Machias Bay!), hiking and biking trails, waterways—and a segue into the traditional lifeways of Downeast Maine.
